Charles Rangel, the head of the House tax-writing committee had admitted that he owed $5000 to the IRS. He failed to report the right income on his returns.

He also asked colleagues to let the ethics committee continue on with their investigation. He also urged the Republicans to stop trying to remove him from his position.

Rangel has had a powerful voice over tax law changes and it seems inexcusable that he has not reported many years of rental income.

Rangel has expressed his apologies, and has further stated that there is no reason to attack each other. He goes on to say that he doesn’t believe that making mistakes automatically means giving up one’s career.
