Brockman “Brock” Adams, an American politician and member of Congress, had to retire because of a sex scandal in 1993. Adams, a Democrat from Washington, had served as a U.S. Representative and Senator and also as the United States Secretary of Transportation before he was defamed by the scandal.

Brock Adams was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He went to the University of Washington at Seattle. He entered politics when he was a student. He went on to do his law degree from Harvard Law School. He served as United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington from 1961 to 1964.

Adams was elected as a Democrat to the House and served six terms form 1965. In August 1977 he was appointed Secretary of Transportation. He later resigned in 1979. In 1986 Adams was re elected as a U S Senator. This proved to be a controversial period. He was accused by Kari Tupper, the daughter of a long-time friend, of sexually assaulting her in July 1987. The incident was reported to the Washington, D.C. police.  She said that Adams had drugged her and molested her at his home.  Eight other women too reported to Seattle Times that they had been sexually molested and harassed by Adams. The stories corroborated and evidence was building up against Adams. But he resigned and dropped out of the re election out of shame.
