Washington Post’s Baron Gellman has a new book called Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency. In it, he’s saying some interesting things.

Apparently, after Hurricane Katrina struck, President Bush asked VP Cheney to head a “cabinet-level task force” with the goal of speeding up the recovery efforts.  Cheney is said o have refused this request!!!

Bush was quoted as saying, “I asked Dick if he’d be interested in spearheading this, let’s just say I didn’t get the ost positive response.”

Apparently Cheney doesn’t do “touchy-feely” and was part of the reason for the refusal.

Cheney’s reluctance doesn’t surprise many who think that Cheney really underestimated the seriousness of the hurricane’s destruction.
