Eliot Spitzer – Prostitution Ring Scandal

The governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, resigned March 10, 2008 when he was accused of being involved in a prostitution ring. The seasoned politician built his career by rooting out corrupt practices in the government. He told reporters, with his wife at his side that, “I have acted in a way that violates my obligation to my family.”

His involvement came to light when he was wiretapped as part of an investigation. Spitzer was known as “Client 9″ in the prostitution ring and he was identified as the person meeting with a woman in a high-end hotel in Washington.

The prostitution ring has been identified as the Emperors Club VIP which arranged for wealthy men and prostitutes to meet. Four people were already arrested because of their connection to the ring recently. The ring has a website that displays photographs of women in various state of undress; women were rated with one diamond up to seven diamonds. The highest rated women are paid as much as $5,000 an hour.
