Richard Curtis

Richard Curtis was born in 1959. He was elected as a Republican member of the Washington State House of Representatives from 2005 to 2007. He represented the Clark and Cowlitz counties.
Curtis, who is married with two daughters, was well known for his stance against gays. In 2006 he voted against a gay rights bill. Even in 2007 he opposed domestic partnerships for gay and lesbian couples.
In October 2007 the Spokane Spokesman-Review reported that Richard Curtis was gay. He was alleged to have had sex with a boy called Cody Castagna. It said that they met in an adult book store and later had sex in a hotel room. Cody Castagna was known to have previously posed for gay pornography. Curtis was also alleged for cross dressing. He wore women’s clothes. Castanga tried to blackmail Curtis and extract money. He demanded $ 1000 from Curtis. Curtis initiated formal extortion charges against the boy.
During the police investigation it was revealed that Curtis had sex with Castanga. However Castanga denied extortion which amounted to Class B felony. Curtis initially denied the charge of being gay but later resigned out of shame on 31 October 2007. He pleaded guilty for having caused pain to his family.

Kwame Malik Kilpatrick, the mayor of Detroit, has defamed the post of the mayor like no one else before. On May 13, 2008, the Detroit City Council voted 5-4 to begin the impeachment process against him. In another resolution they requested that Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm eject the mayor should the impeachment fail.
Kilpatrick was born in Detroit and went to Pelham Middle School in Detroit. Later he earned a Bachelor of Science in political science and a teaching certificate from Florida A&M University. Kilpatrick was elected in 1996 to the Michigan House of Representatives after his mother, Carolyn Kilpatrick vacated the seat. Later he was elected Democratic floor leader and thereafter the House Democratic Leader, making him the first African American to lead a Michigan Legislature. His campaign staff consisted of high school classmates. Most notable amongst them was Christine Beatty, who became his legislative aide and later rose to become his chief of staff. Kalparick was elected the Mayor of Detroit in 2001. He became one of the youngest Mayors in the US.
In his term as Mayor, Kilpatrick was charged of misusing the Credit Card provided by the city to the tune of $ 2,00,000. Kilpatrick was accused by his wife Carlita Kilpatrick of having lewd parties at his official residence, the Manoogian Mansion. One of the dancers called Tamara Greene was later murdered. In January 2008 another scandal surfaced where 14,000 text messages exchanged between Kilpatrick and his chief of staff Christine Beatty were released. This suggested an extra marital affair with Christine Beatty. These charges finally lead to the 5-4 vote to begin impeachment process against him.

Gavin Christopher Newsom was born on 10 October 1967. He graduated from Santa Clara University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. He started the PlumpJack Wine Shop in 1992. The business flourished into a multi-million dollar enterprise. After serving in a number of public jobs he won the race for the Mayor of San Francisco in 2003.
He shot to fame on the issue of same sex marriages. Within a month of his taking over as Mayor, Newsom issued a directive to the San Francisco city-county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. In his opinion the California Constitution’s equal protection clause gave him authority to do so.
However, after a very successful political career trouble started with his former deputy chief of staff, Alex Tourk. He alleged Newsom of having had an affair with his wife, Rippey Tourk in 2005. She then worked in the Mayor’s Office as the Mayor’s aide for commission appointments. It was also discovered by San Francisco City attorney in an investigation that Rippey-Tourk had received $ 10,154 as illness pay. However Newsom and others were cleared of all charges later. On 1st February 2007 Newsom apologized for the affair at a news conference. He is still the Mayor of San Francisco.
