Senator Ted Stevens, 84, has been indicted on seven counts last July 29, 2008 for making inaccurate statements. He has been dogged by investigation as to whether he has pushed legislation for the benefit of his son.
Stevens, the longest-serving Republic senator, had his home searched last July 30, 2007 as well amidst allegations related to corruption. The senator came under scrutiny because of his connection to Bill Allen who is the founder of VECO Corp. He was convicted for bribing lawmakers.
In 2000, Steven’s home in Girdwood had a major renovation. This massive project was undertaken by Allen who later reaped millions of dollars worth of federal contracts.
